We had a great time at the CTMS Equinox Festival on Sunday — we even had quite an audience for our early morning (for us) 10:20 a.m. show. David and I both taught workshops (me on banjo, David on fiddle), and I promised to post a video of the tune I taught so that folks could refer back to it.
So if you were there, here you go, and if you weren’t, I hope you get something out of this, too — it’s a quick demonstration of thumb-lead two-finger old-time banjo picking, using Doc Watson’s version of “Groundhog.” Enjoy, and leave a comment here or on YouTube if you have any questions and I’ll be glad to answer them.
Chris will be teaching an intermediate banjo workshop (probably on two-finger picking) at 11:45 a.m., and David will teach intermediate old-time fiddle at 2:15 p.m.
There will be lots of good music at the fest besides Sausage Grinder — the Foghorn Duo, Tom and Patrick Sauber, and our old-time pals Triple Chicken Foot will play, plus there are a lot more workshops to choose from, and plenty of jamming.
Come by, listen, play a tune, and don’t forget to buy a copy of our CD.
